About me

Hi – I’m Stephanie

I am a results-driven, compassionate person. I believe that with true alignment and solid execution, we can accomplish amazing things together.

I am a licensed Scrum.org Professional Scrum Trainer™ (PST), and I have taught over 1,300 students on 5 continents. I have been a Steward of the Professional Scrum Master™ (PSM) Curriculum since 2016, helping to improve and evolve the course while maintaining the integrity of Ken Schwaber’s vision.

I have over 15 years of experience as a Scrum Master, Coach, Project Manager, and Trainer. I have completed and integrate the following into my work: the 5-course Co-Active Coaching Training Program, the 5-course Organization and Relationship Systems Coaching (ORSC) Training Program, and the 10-month Co-Active Leadership Program.

I am the co-author of the book Mastering Professional Scrum, recently published by Pearson Addison-Wesley as part of the Scrum.org’s Professional Scrum Series.

Mastering Professional Scrum: A Practitioner’s Guide to Overcoming Common Challenges and Maximizing the Benefits of Agility

“Our job as Scrum professionals is to continually improve our ability to use Scrum to deliver products and services that help customers achieve valuable outcomes. This book will help you to improve your ability to apply Scrum.”

— From the Foreword by Ken Schwaber, co-creator of Scrum

Mastering Professional Scrum is for anyone who wants to deliver increased value by using Scrum more effectively. Leading Scrum practitioners Stephanie Ockerman and Simon Reindl draw on years of Scrum training and coaching to help you focus on proven Scrum approaches for improving quality, getting and using fast feedback, and becoming more adaptable, instead of “going through the motions” and settling for only modest improvements.

Client testimonials

“Stephanie facilitated a PSM II course that helped me identify ‘blockers’ and the many forms in which they manifest. During class, I was constantly able to relate ‘why Scrum teams are struggling’ with insights from Stephanie and other Scrum Masters through discussion and practical exercises. The course structure emphasizes practicing and learning techniques that will make you a better insightful servant leader.”
- Don LaVallee, Technologist and Process Innovator
“I walked away with more courage to act, which came from confidence in what I learned being applicable across a wide variety of scenarios I experience working with both technical and business teams. The opportunity to share experiences and performing multiple ‘time-boxed’ practice drills challenged my thinking and reinforced the value of the Scrum framework. Forming self-organizing teams, made up of Scrum Masters from various industries and experience levels, was also an extremely valuable aspect of this course.”
- Don LaVallee, Technologist and Process Innovator
“While she uses creative ways to facilitate the teaching of Scrum and agile, she also applies continuous evaluation and feedback to refine her training techniques in order to meet the needs of her students. Much more than being a coach/ trainer/ teacher, Stephanie is very personable and approachable.”
- Festus Ojo, App Developer II, Miami University Oxford Ohio
